A Tigris folyó oroszlánjai

Zaradasht Ahmed kurd–norvég filmkészítő Irak északi részén született és nőtt fel. Korábbi munkái között szerepel a díjnyertes dokumentumfilm Út Diyarbakırba. Sokéves tapasztalattal rendelkezik a dokumentumfilm-készítés terén a Közel-Keleten, Észak-Afrikában és Ázsiában, valamint a helyi lakosságnak tartott dokumentációs képzésekben. Az illegális bevándorlásról szóló filmjét, a Fata Morganát több rangos filmfesztiválon is bemutatták, az iraki halálháromszögről szóló Nincs hová bújnod a Verzió 2017-es nyitófilmje volt.

Együttélés, na persze...

A díjnyertes alkotó Amber Fares rendezte a Speed Sisters és a Reckoning With Laughter c. filmeket, illetve a 2024-es Cannes Lions kreatívfilmes fesztivál szórakoztatás kategóriájának nagydíjával elismert We Are Ayendát. Társrendezője a Convergence: Courage Under Crisis című filmnek. Libanoni származású kanadai állampolgár, New Yorkban él.

Halhatatlanok

Maja Tschumi 1983-ban született Svájcban, jelenleg Zürichben és Berlinben él és dolgozik. A pszichológiai, társadalmi és politikai elnyomás ellen lázadó kívülállók intim portréinak megformálásáról ismert. A Zürichi Egyetemen szerzett filozófia és irodalom szakos mesterdiplomát (2013), drámaíróként és színikritikusként dolgozott több neves svájci színházban, majd a kölni Médiaművészeti Akadémián szerzett filmrendezői diplomát (2023). Első egész estés filmje, a ROTZLOCH 2022-ben jelent meg.

Hasszánnal Gázában

Kamal Aljafari palesztin filmrendező és művész. Aljafari tanított a New York-i New School és a berlini DFFB egyetemeken, volt ösztöndíjasa a Harvard Film Study Centernek. Jelenleg a Columbia Egyetemen működő Institute for Ideas and Imagination ösztöndíjasa. Egész estés A Fidai Film (2024) című filmje több mint száz fesztiválon volt látható, és tizenöt nemzetközi díjat kapott. Legújabb munkáját, a Hasszánnal Gázábant (2025) a Locarnoi Filmfesztivál nemzetközi versenyprogramjában mutatták be.

Kartúm

Ibrahim Snoopy szudáni filmrendező és operatőr, aki az utóbbi időben az ARTE, a BBC és a The Washington Post számára dolgozott, valamint videóklippeket, reklámokat és rövidfilmeket készített. Nevezetes munkái közé tartozik a Khartoum Offside című dokumentumfilm, amely elnyerte a legjobb dokumentumfilm díját a Carthage Filmfesztiválon, valamint a From Argentina to Sudan, illetve a díjnyertes rövidfilmek, a Serotonin és a Journey to Kenya. Ez a második egész estés filmje.

Anas Saeed szudáni tartalomgyártó videóriporterként kezdte pályafutását az Ayin Network független médiavállalatnál. Számos riportot készített a szudáni közösségek emberi jogi ügyeiről nemzetközi médiumok számára. Az Ayin Mediánál elsősorban a kultúrára és a közelmúltbeli háborúra koncentrált. Legújabb munkája a Five Meals of Resistance című film, amely hamarosan fesztiválokon is bemutatásra kerül.

Rawia Alhag szudáni filmrendező és forgatókönyvíró, jelenleg Kenyában, Nairobiban él. Munkássága középpontjában a nők és a gyermekek állnak, a szudáni emberek élményeit és küzdelmeit mutatja be, legyen szó saját közösségeikről vagy a diaszóráról. Az általa rendezett Out of Coverage című rövidfilm elnyerte a legjobb külföldi film díját a Juba Filmfesztiválon.

Timeea Mohamed Ahmed szudáni filmrendező, vágó és producer, jelenleg Kelet-Afrikában él, nem narratív kísérleti és dokumentumfilmeken dolgozik. Rendezett több rövidfilmet, köztük a Saddari (2023) és az Is it War? (2024) címűeket. Egyéb munkái közé tartozik a Flower of Sinkat (2018), a Hope Journey (2021), valamint kampány- és reklámfilmek. Filmjei középpontjában Szudán kultúrája és küzdelmei állnak.

Phil Cox kreatív igazgató és forgatókönyvíró, 1998 óta társvezetője a díjnyertes filmes kollekívának, a Native Voice Filmsnek; több mint harminc televíziós és mozifilm rendezője és közreműködője. Legutóbbi filmjei rendezőként és forgatókönyvíróként: The Bengali Detective (HBO, bemutató: Sundance és Berlin), Love Hotel (Netflix / BBC Storyville, bemutató: Toronto), a Betty They Say I’m Different (ARTE / BBC / Amazon, bemutató: IDFA), a The Cleaner (FR2) és a The Spider-Man of Sudan ( ARTE / Guardian). 2004 óta Szudánban végzett munkájáért elnyerte a brit Grierson-díjat, a Rory Peck-díjat, valamint a Hinzpeter- és a Bayeux Calvados-díjat.

The Lions by The River Tigris

Director and photographer Zaradasht Ahmed, born and raised in northern Iraq, is a Kurdish–Norwegian filmmaker. His previous work includes the award-winning documentary Road to Diyarbakır. He has many years of experience working with documentary filmmaking in the Middle East, North-Africa, and Asia, as well as with training local people in documentation. His film on the topic of illegal immigration to Europe, Fata Morgana, has been screened at several prestigious film festivals. Nowhere to Hide, on the death triangle of Iraq, was the opening film at Verzió 2017.

Immortals

Maja Tschumi was born in 1983 in Switzerland. She lives and works in Zurich and Berlin. She is known for her intimate portraits of outsiders rebelling against various forms of psychological, social, and political oppression. Maja holds a master‘s degree in Philosophy and Literature from the University of Zurich (2013). She worked as a playwright and theater critic for various renowned Swiss theaters and completed a master‘s degree in film directing at the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne (2023). She released her first feature film, ROTZLOCH, in 2022.

With Hasan in Gaza

Kamal Aljafari is a Palestinian filmmaker and artist. Aljafari has taught at The New School and DFFB in Berlin and was a Film Study Center fellow at Harvard. Currently a fellow at Columbia University's Institute for Ideas and Imagination. The feature film “A Fidai Film” (2024) was shown in over hundred festivals and won 15 international awards. His most recent work, “With Hasan in Gaza” (2025), premiered in the International Competition at Locarno Film Festival.

Khartoum

Ibrahim Snoopy is a Sudanese filmmaker and cinematographer working recently for ARTE, BBC and The Washington Post, as well as music videos, commercials, and shorts. Notable works include the feature documentaries *Khartoum Offside*, which won Best Documentary at the Carthage Film Festival, and From Argentina to Sudan, as well as the award-winning shorts Serotonin and Journey to Kenya . This is his second feature.

Anas Saeed a Sudanese media maker, started working as a video journalist for the independent media house, Ayin Network. He has produced several reportage works for international media that focus on human rights issues affecting different communities across Sudan. His work for Ayin Media has focused on covering culture and the recent war. His latest work is Five Meals of Resistance, soon to be released at festivals.

Rawia Alhag  is a Sudanese filmmaker and screenwriter now based in Nairobi, Kenya. Her work focuses on women's and children's issues, shedding light on the experiences and struggles of Sudanese people both within their communities and in the diaspora. She directed the award-winning short film "Out of Coverage" , which won Best Foreign Film at the Juba Film Festival.

Timeea Mohamed Ahmed is a Sudanese director, editor & producer based in East Africa. His work explores non-narrative experimental & documentary. He directed short films, including Saddari (2023) and Is it War? (2024). Other credits include Flower of Sinkat (2018), Hope Journey (2021), as well as advocacy and commercial campaigns. His films center on the culture and struggles of Sudan.

Phil is the co-director of award-winning indie film collective Native Voice Films since 1998 and has directed and shot over 30 films for TV and cinema. His recent cinematic features as director/writer are THE BENGALI DETECTIVE (Sundance and Berlin premiere – HBO), LOVE HOTEL (Toronto premiere. Netflix / BBC Storyville), BETTY THEY SAY I'M DIFFERENT (IDFA premiere, ARTE / BBC / Amazon), THE CLEANER (FR2), AND THE SPIDER-MAN OF SUDAN (ARTE / GUARDIAN). He is the recipient of a British Grierson Award, a Rory Peck Award, and the Hinzpeter and Bayeux Calvados awards for his work in Sudan since 2004.

Coexistence, My Ass!

Award-winning filmmaker Amber Fares directed Speed Sisters, Reckoning With Laughter, and We Are Ayenda, which won the 2024 Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity Grand Prix for Entertainment. She co-directed Convergence: Courage Under Crisis. Fares is a Canadian of Lebanese origin based in New York.
