Militantropos

Alina Gorlova is a Ukrainian film director. She graduated from Karpenko- Kary Kyiv National University of Theatre, Film & Television. She co-founded a production company, TABOR. Her documentary, No Obvious Signs, won the MDR film award for Best Eastern European Film at DokLeipzig.

Yelizaveta Smith is a film director, co-founder of TABOR and a member of the Ukrainian and European Film Academy. Her documentary, School Number 3, co-directed by Georg Genoux, won the Grand Prix of the Generation 14plus International Jury at the Berlinale 2017.

Simon Mozghovyi is a Ukrainian film director. He studied Cinema and Television Arts at the Kharkiv State Academy of Culture, and then went on to study an advanced-level course in dramaturgy in Kyiv, where he began acting.

Sanatorium

Gar O’Rourke is an award-winning Irish documentary filmmaker. His debut feature, Sanatorium, balances humour and tragedy in the stories of staff and guests staying at a unique Soviet-era health resort in southern war-torn Ukraine. The film will premiere in Spring 2025 and was recently acquired by Oscar and Emmy-winning BBC Storyville for their prestigious documentary film strand. His debut short film, Kachalka, also filmed in Ukraine, went on to win awards and screen in some of the world’s top film festivals along with receiving a Vimeo Staff pick and being acquired by some of North America and Europe’s biggest broadcasters. He is currently in pre-production on his second feature documentary, titled The Siege of Paradise, which takes place on the northern Italian Riviera and begins filming in Spring 2025.

Everything Needs to Live

Tetiana Dorodnitsyna is a film director, editor and visual artist. Graduate of the Directing Faculty at the I. K. Karpenko-Kary National University of Theatre, Cinema and Television in Kiev. She is the director of the short films 'Wolves' (2023) and 'Who Is Kaya?' (2019). She has worked for television channels, production companies and Kyivtelefilm film studio. She is the editor of the feature-length documentary 'Roses. Film-Cabaret' (2021) by Irena Stetsenko and 'Askania Reserve' (2019) by Andrii Lytvynenko. 'Everything Needs to Live' is her feature-length debut.

Andrii Lytvynenko is a film director and producer. He graduated from the Kiev National University of Theatre, Cinema and Television named after I. K. Karpenko-Kary and the Documentary Studio at the Wajda School. He is the director of the documentaries ‘Fantastic Ukrainians. Fine Art' (2020) and “Askania Reserve” (2019), which received awards from the UA Docudays and Pelicam festivals. He is the co-author and one of the co-directors of the film ‘Euromaidan. Rough Cut' (2014), which won a Special Mention at the Ji.hlava IFFD, as well as a Ukrainian producer and one of the authors of the idea for ’Trial: Russian Federation vs. Oleg Sencov' (2017) by Askold Kurov.

The Longer You Bleed

Ewan Waddell is a Berlin-based director whose debut feature, The Longer You Bleed, premiered at Hot Docs 2025. His style blends mixed media and experimental approaches to examine the modernity crisis. Waddell now develops his second film, exploring the therapeutic use of psychedelics in war-torn Ukraine.

2000 Meters to Andriivka

Mstyslav Chernov is a Pulitzer Prize–winning Ukrainian filmmaker, war correspondent, and novelist. He is known for his coverage of the Russian invasion of Ukraine as well as wars in Iraq, Syria, Azerbaijan, and Afghanistan. His film 20 DAYS IN MARIUPOL won Best Documentary Feature Film at the 96th Academy Awards.

Cuba & Alaska

Yegor Troyanovsky is a Ukrainian director, screenwriter, and cinematographer. He has solid professional experience in the audiovisual sector working in film production, television programs, advertising, and music videos on Ukrainian and American TV. Yegor is the author and film director of his first short documentary film Rear (participated in the VI Odesa International Film Festival). His first full-length documentary film Demon was a participant in XI Odesa International Film Festival and received the Fipresci award for the Best Film. Yegor Troyanovsky is also one of the creators of the critically-acclaimed historical documentary series: Collapse. How Ukrainians Destroyed the Evil Empire.

Ukrajna virágai

Adelina Borets forgatókönyvíró és rendező, az ukrajnai Mariupolban született. A varsói Filmfőiskolán rendezést a Wajda filmiskolában forgatókönyvírást végzett, jelenleg a katowicei Krzysztof Kieślowski Filmiskola rendezői mesterképzésén védi diplomamunkáját. Debütáló dokumentumfilmje, a The Wormwood Star (2018) elnyerte a 15. EKOFILM Nemzetközi Ökológiai Fesztivál nagydíját és a közönségdíjat, valamint a Golden Frames fesztivál nagydíját. Az Eden House (2021) című filmet a katowicei Coal Film Fesztiválon a legjobb játékfilmnek választották.

Flowers of Ukraine

Adelina Borets is a screenwriter and director born in Mariupol, Ukraine. She is a graduate of directing at the Warsaw Film School and the Script course at the Wajda School, and is currently defending her master's degree thesis in directing at the Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School in Katowice. Her debut documentary film The Wormwood Star (2018) won the Grand Prix and the audience award at the 15th International Ecological Festival EKOFILM, and the Grand Prix at the Golden Frames festival - International Festival of Short Fiction Films. The medium-length feature film Eden House (2021) was recognised as the best feature film at the Coal Film Festival in Katowice and was awarded the special critics‘ prize at the Critics’ Festival in Kiev.

Oksana Karpovych Kijevben született ukrán-kanadai rendező, író és fotós. Első egész estés dokumentumfilmje a Don't Worry, the Doora Will Open 2019-es RIDM-en megnyerte a New Visions díjat és a torontói Hot Docs külön elismeréssel díjazta. Projektjeiben a hétköznapi emberek mindennapi életét és szóbeli történeteit vizsgálja, valamint azt, hogy az állami politika hogyan hatol be a magánszférába, befolyásolva az általa közelről dokumentált közösségeket. Karpovych az ukrajnai Kijev-Mohyla Akadémián végzett kulturális tanulmányok szakon, valamint a montreali Concordia Egyetemen filmgyártás szakon.

Intercepted

Oksana Karpovych is a Ukrainian-Canadian filmmaker, writer and photographer born in Kyiv. Her first feature documentary Don’t Worry, the Doors Will Open won the New Visions Award at RIDM in 2019 and received a special mention at Hot Docs 2020. In her projects, Karpovych explores the everyday life and oral histories of ordinary people and how state politics intrude into the private sphere, influencing the communities she intimately documents. Karpovych is a Cultural Studies graduate of the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy in Ukraine and a Film Production graduate of Concordia University in Montreal.
