Between 24 February and 6 March 2026, the Focus on Ukraine event series takes place, offering free film screenings among other programs as the result of an extensive collaboration among thirteen European cultural institutes and embassies.
The program opened with a screening of 2000 Meters to Andriivka, the documentary by Pulitzer Prize– and Academy Award–winning Ukrainian director Mstyslav Chernov, which was presented to great acclaim at the 22nd Verzió. Held on 24 February — the fourth anniversary of the war in Ukraine — at Toldi Cinema in Budapest, the opening event was attended by numerous ambassadors. Welcoming remarks were delivered by Liliána Grexa, Ukrainian Nationality Advocate to the Hungarian Parliament, and Sándor Fegyir, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Hungary.
The event was organized by the Embassy of Ukraine in Hungary, Liliána Grexa, Ukrainian Nationality Advocate to the Hungarian Parliament, and the Verzió International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival, in cooperation with EUNIC Hungary.
