Days of Wonder
Without anyone knowing, Markku has been creating art for the last 34 years in his house. In the director's childhood, they lived wall to wall and were close, but then Markku moved away, disappearing from her life. As we witness a special kind of dialog emerge between the director and her protagonist, we find the world of a free spirit searching to be true to himself and inspiring us to do the same.
Karin Pennanen is a film director and screenwriter. Born 1977 in Helsinki, Finland, she now lives and works in Espoo, Finland. After earning a master's degree in scenography at the Aalto University, in Helsinki, she continued her studies in film in Norway, at Filmkunstskolen i Kabelvåg. Learning the craft of filmmaking in the spectacular surroundings of the Lofoten Islands was a turning point for her in becoming a film director. Her background in scenography and fine arts can be seen in her special interest for spatiality and visuals in film. Pennanen has made short films, both fiction and documentary, that have been screened internationally, winning several awards.
