In the Caspian Sea, the inhabitants of an island that was once a thriving collective fishery, have been forsaken by the state after the fall of the Soviet Union. With no jobs, electricity or gas, their primary mode of subsistence is fishing in the heavily patrolled waters, where they risk both their lives and freedom to put food on their tables. Here we meet Ivan's family. They struggle, laugh, dance, and believe that one day Putin will see them and help. Can an isolated community put more hope in escape or Putin to rescue them from their plight.
