Edie - A Dance for Mengele

Eszter Cseke and Andras S. Takacs have produced over 70 documentaries, across 5 continents, in the past 10 years. Their films have drawn the attention of the international press, from the Financial Times to the BBC, and have received the Golden Nymph Award in Monte Carlo, the Gold Plaque in Chicago, and have been presented at festivals from Karlovy Vary to Sarajevo.

Dawson City: Frozen Time

Bill Morrison is a New York-based filmmaker and artist. His films often combine rare archival material set to contemporary music, for which he has collaborated with some of the most influential composers of our time. Morrison's films are also in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art, Walker Art Center, and the EYE Film Institute.

Complicit

Heather White is the founder and former president (1995–2005) of www.verite.org, an award-winning non-profit organization recognized for its groundbreaking leadership in the areas of global supply chain monitoring and factory social audits. From 2011–2014 she was a Network Fellow at Edmond Safra Center for Ethics, at Harvard University. Complicit is her first documentary feature.

Beautiful Things

Giorgio Ferrero is a composer, director, filmmaker and photographer. He has composed soundtracks for dozens of films, theatrical performances and installations. Together with Rodolfo Mongitore and Federico Biasin, they run the multidisciplinary studio MYBOSSWAS, where they are creative directors.

Federico Biasin is a DoP, producer and filmmaker. With Giorgio Ferrero, they were the Italian winners of Biennale College 2016, at the Venice Biennale. Together with Rodolfo Mongitore, they run the multidisciplinary studio MYBOSSWAS, where they are creative directors.

The Art of Argument

Gereon Wetzel was born in Bonn, in 1972. He received his MA in Archeology from the University of Heidelberg, and completed the documentary filmmaking program at the University for Film and Television in Munich, where he currently lives and works as a freelance author and filmmaker.

Melanie Liebheit received her MA in Social Anthropology in Munich and Manchester, and documentary filmmaking at the University of Television and Film Munich. In 2001–2011 she worked for Documentary Campus. In 2007 she co-founded the documentary film festival, Nonfiktionale, in Bad Aibling (Germany), which she has led, together with Tamara Danicic, since 2016.

Lindy Lou: Juror No 2

Florent Vassault is a documentary filmmaker born in France. After several short fiction films and a mockumentary (Bernard Thomas, les secrets de la gloire, 2007), he co-directed the award-winning documentary, Honk! (2011), with sociologist Arnaud Gaillard. It is a take on the death penalty in the United States. In 2017 he continued to pursue the impacts of capital punishment in Lindy Lou, Juror Number 2.

Little Yellow Boots

John Webster is a writer and director born in 1967, in Helsinki, to English teachers who later moved to Finland. John graduated from the University of Art and Design in Helsinki in 1996 with an MA in documentary filmmaking. Since 1990 he has directed independent documentaries that have won numerous awards nationally and internationally. He has run his own production company, JW Documentaries, since 1993.

Watani: My Homeland

Marcel Mettelsiefen is a director, cameraman, photographer and producer. His films on the civil war in Syria, such as Syria: Children on the Frontline (2014), Children on the Frontline: The Escape (2016) and Watani: My Homeland (2016), earned him critical praise and recognition. Mettelsiefen won two BAFTA and two Emmy awards, and was nominated for an Academy Award in the category Best Documentary Short Subject for Watani: My Homeland.

The Waldheim Waltz

Ruth Beckermann studied journalism and art history in Vienna, Tel Aviv and New York, and earned her doctorate in 1977 at the University of Vienna. She contributed as a journalist to several Austrian and Swiss magazines. In 1978 she cofounded the distribution company, Filmladen, in which she was active for seven years. Since 1985 she works as a writer and filmmaker. Her film The Dreamed Ones was screened widely and won several awards. Her latest film, The Waldheim Waltz, won, among other prizes, the Glashütte-Original Documentary Award at Berlinale (2018).

Untitled

Michael Glawogger was born in Graz, Austria, and studied at the San Francisco Art Institute and the Vienna Film Academy. He started as an assistant camera operator, and later worked as a cinematographer, screenwriter, and director. He made numerous internationally-acclaimed shorts, documentaries, and feature films. He had recently devoted himself to literary writing. Michael Glawogger died in Monrovia, Liberia, in April of 2014 while shooting Untitled.

Monika Willi is a film editor who has worked with Michael Glawogger, Michael Haneke, Barbara Albert, and Florian Flicker. She was nominated for the Austrian Film Prize for her work on Whores’ Glory (Glawogger, 2011), and the German Film Prize for The White Ribbon (Haneke, 2009). She received the Austrian Film Prize for Best Film Editing for The Dead and the Living (Barbara Albert, 2012), and the Filmplus Award for Best Feature Film Editing for The White Ribbon (as well as for Barbara Eder’s Thank You for Bombing [2016]).
