A home to many sea creatures, Jeju’s soft coral colony is in danger. The ‘Coral Garden’ off the coast of Gangjeong Village in Seogwipo City is the world’s largest soft coral colony, and the coral reef ecosystem is a natural treasure that provides a home to half of the ocean’s species. However, changes to the water currents due to the construction of the naval base which started in 2012 and global warming have been causing the devastation of the corals. Determined to stop these continuing changes, divers gather in Gangjeong Village, take up cameras and head into the water.
