Jacquelyn Mills Cape Breton-szigetről származik, Montréalban él. Magával ragadó, érzékközpontú filmjei gyakran a természethez való gyógyító kapcsolatot vizsgálják. Aki nem vagyok

Skovrán Tünde Erdélyben, Romániában született. Miután 2005-ben a kolozsvári Babeș-Bolyai Tudományegyetem dráma szakán BA fokozatot szerzett, a rangos Kolozsvári Állami Magyar Színház repertoárszínésznője lett. 2014-ben meghívást kapott a Szarajevói Nemzetközi Filmfesztivál Talent Campusára. A Berlinale Talent egyik végzett diákja. A Puzzle (2013) című filmben nyújtott debütálásáért két amerikai filmfesztiválon is elnyerte a legjobb női főszereplő díját. Jelenleg Los Angelesben él, ahol a The Actors Studio West megfigyelője is volt már. 2016-ban Los Angelesben létrehozta a J.U.S.T. Toys nevű újító, kísérleti színházi produkciós társulatot. Elismert alkotások producere és szereplője, többek között játszott a 2019-ben az Off-Broadwayt megnyitó Yuri Kordonsky rendezésében is. Az Aki nem vagyok első, egész estés filmje rendezőként, amelyet az IDFA-n a Dok Incubator is díjazta, mint készülőben lévő alkotást.

Spots of Light

Adam Weingrod is an independent filmmaker from Israel. Graduate of the Steve Tisch TAU Film Dept. MFA program. "The Island" (2017), a 60-minute documentary, is an award-winning film commissioned by the yesDocu channel and has been screened at numerous film festivals, including Docaviv and Santa Barbara. The film won several awards, including Best Debut Film at the Verzio Human Rights Festival and Best Student Film at the Israeli Documentary Forum Awards. Adam has also directed several shorts, such as "I See You" (2023, documentary) that premiered at the Jerusalem Film Festival and will air on Israel's public TV channel KAN11. "And There Will Be Fire" (2018, documentary), Epos Art Film Festival at the Tel Aviv Museum. "Funjoya" (2016, fiction) won the Audience Award at the Tel Aviv Student Film Festival. His latest work "Spots of Light" held its world premiere at the 2023 Venice Film Festival.

Plastisapiens

Miri Chekhanovich is a multi-disciplinary visual artist who blends bio-material research, film, and installation. Born in Armenia, Miri grew up in Jerusalem and immigrated to Canada in 2013. She currently lives and works in Tiohtià:ke (Montreal). Her work emerges from what she refers to as a gentle state of emergency, which leads her to make, share, and intervene in public space. The artist is interested in neglected materials, geological history, wounds, and the illusion of time.

Edith Jorisch is a screenwriter and director based in Montreal, known for her work in fiction. After completing her studies in screenwriting and television at UQAM, she directed her first feature-length documentary, “L’héritier(The Heir)”, in 2016. Her video installation “Being-With” was presented by the Phi Center in Montreal, as well as in the Theatre of Virtuallity during the 58th Venice Biennale in 2019. Her bio-material research work is exhibited internationally including at the Hors Piste festival at the Centre Pompidou in Paris in 2021. Since 2019, Miri works in a duo with the director Edith Jorisch, their first collaboration; “Plastisapiens” presented in a world premiere at Tribeca Film Festival and won the IDFA DocLab Special Jury Award for Creative Technology In 2022. In addition to Plastisapiens, the duo is currently developing a new interactive video installation called “Fruit Opera”.

21-22 China

Thierry Loa has diligently been exploring and working in various visual and media disciplines, on a diverse and mixed array of projects such as video installations, narrative films, symphonic cinema, VR cinema, interactive design, and photography. Conducting both commissioned and self-produced projects, and being interdisciplinary, Thierry shares his time between filmmaking, interactive design, photography, writing, drawing and traveling the World. As a filmmaker, he completed his feature film: a nonverbal film symphony titled 20-22 OMEGA (20-22.COM) evoking the classical symphonic films of the 1920s while giving a profound look at the contemporary Posthumans of the Anthropocene. Now he is working on the sequel project titled 21-22: a 360 VR film series exploring the state of life and nature on planet Earth.

Silent House

Born in Tehran, Iran, Farnaz Jurabchian works as an independent filmmaker based between Tehran and Toronto. She received her BA in French Literature from Tehran University, and worked as writer and translator for art magazines in Iran. She later immigrated to Canada and studied cinema at Concordia University in Montreal. Most of her films revolve around the notion of homeland and characters that each represent a part of society. Her debut mid-length documentary, Overruled, about unauthorized Afghan tennis players was premiered at Hot Docs 2016 and won 5 international prizes. Her autobiographical documentary Silent House had its world premiere at IDFA 2022, and was nominated for the IDFA Award for Best First Feature. With her brother Mohammadreza Jurabchian, Farnaz started an independent film company, F&M Productions, where they work as co-directors and producers.

Mohammad Reza Jurabchian works as an independent filmmaker and cinematographer based in Tehran. He received his BA in photography from Azad University. He was among the best photographers of the year in the 10th Iranian National Biennial of Photography and had several group exhibitions in and outside Iran. He made several short films and documentaries which have been selected for a number of international film festivals. Jurabchian's films are heavily indebted to photography. He tries to depict his relationship with the world around him and his lived experience. He and his sister, Farnaz Jurabchian, started an independent film company, F&M Productions, where they work as co-directors and producers. They directed Overruled and Silent House together.

Geographies of Solitude

Jacquelyn Mills is a filmmaker from Cape Breton Island, based in Montréal. Her works are immersive and sensorial, often exploring a healing connection to the natural world. Her award-winning documentary In the Waves (2017) premiered at Visions du Réel. Her most recent work, Geographies of Solitude (2022) premiered at the Berlinale Forum and won three awards. It has since garnered 27 awards, including Best Canadian Feature Film at Hot Docs and Outstanding Artistry in Filmmaking from the Smithsonian in Washington, DC. Jacquelyn is a Sundance Doc Fund Alumni, an IDA Documentary Award and Canadian Screen Award nominee. She has also worked as an editor, sound designer, and cinematographer on many internationally-acclaimed films.

Bloom

Canadian documentary filmmaker and editor Fanie Pelletier graduated in social sciences and filmmaking. Her short film, Faded Photograph (2016), a revelation about her father’s life story, has been screened and awarded at several festivals. Her documentary Bloom, which, like her previous films, addresses the issue of representation in the context of social structures, is her feature debut.

Who I Am Not

Tünde Skovrán was born in Transylvania, Romania. After graduating in 2005 from Babes Bolyai University (Cluj-Napoca, Romania) with a bachelor’s degree in drama, Tünde became a repertoire actress at the prestigious Hungarian State Theatre in Cluj-Napoca. In 2014, Tünde was invited to participate in the Sarajevo International Film Festival Talent Campus. She is a Berlinale Talent alumni. She made her movie debut in Puzzle (2013), for which she received the Best Actress in a Lead Role Award at two US film festivals. Presently, she lives in Los Angeles, where she was an observer at The Actors Studio West. In 2016 she created J.U.S.T. Toys, a pioneer, experimental theatre production company in Los Angeles. She produced and starred in acclaimed productions, the last of which opened off-Broadway in 2019, under the direction of Yuri Kordonsky. The documentary Who I Am Not is her first feature-length film as a director. As a work in progress, the film was awarded by Dok Incubator at IDFA.
