Rohingyák száműzetésben – Vándorlástörténet

Olivier Higgins és Mélanie Carrier a kanadai Québecben születtek, és eredeti szakmájukat tekintve biológusok. A filmezésre véletlenül, saját kalandjaik dokumentálása során találtak rá. 2007-ben rendezői és producerei voltak az Asiemut című dokumentumfilmnek, amely 8000 kilométeres kerékpárútjukat követte nyomon Mongóliától Indiáig. 2010-ben a rendező-producer páros megalapította a dokumentumfilmekre szakosodott MÖ FILMS független produkciós céget, amely korunk társadalmi kihívásainak megvitatásához kíván hozzájárulni. Wandering, a Rohingya Story

Born in Québec City (Canada), Olivier Higgins and Mélanie Carrier are biologists by trade. They discovered video while documenting their numerous adventures. In 2007, they directed and produced the documentary film Asiemut, which chronicles their 8000 km cycling trip from Mongolia to India. In 2010, the director-producer couple founded MÖ FILMS, an independent production company devoted to documentary films, whose objective is to contribute to the debates and societal challenges of our times. Their latest documentary feature film, Wandering, a Rohingya Story examines the Rohingya refugee crisis in Bangladesh. Along with this film, they produced and designed a multidisciplinary exhibition, including the works of several artists, at the Quebec National Museum of Fine Arts (MNBAQ).

Martine Asselin és Annick Daigneault mindketten autista gyerekeket nevelnek és elhatározták, hogy együtt dolgoznak egy autizmusról szóló, immerzív projekten. Martine Asselin and Annick Daigneault each have an autistic child. They decided to work together on an immersive project about autism. Martine is a documentary filmmaker whose work has been shown in festivals and on television worldwide, while Annick has been working as an event creator/coordinator and actor and has created a Foundation for the inclusion of autistic people. Driven by the same conviction that inclusion is the only way forward, they decided to use virtual reality to see how immersive media and interactivity could be used to push the documentary experience and autism awareness to a new level.

Oksana Karpovych Kijevben született ukrán-kanadai rendező, író és fotós. Oksana Karpovych is a Ukrainian-Canadian filmmaker, writer and photographer born in Kyiv. Her first feature documentary Don’t Worry, the Doors Will Open won the New Visions Award at RIDM in 2019 and received a special mention at Hot Docs 2020. In her projects, Karpovych explores the everyday life and oral histories of ordinary people and how state politics intrude into the private sphere, influencing the communities she intimately documents. Karpovych is a Cultural Studies graduate of the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy in Ukraine and a Film Production graduate of Concordia University in Montreal.

Xinyan Yu is an award-winning video journalist and filmmaker based in Washington DC. In 2018, she launched the North America video team for Hong Kong’s flagship newspaper South China Morning Post in New York, and later joined the BBC's Washington DC bureau in 2020 as a senior video journalist. Now working as an independent filmmaker, she has directed and produced for the BBC, CNBC, PBS NOVA and Channel News Asia. Xinyan is a Firelight Media Documentary Lab fellow, a Brown Girls Doc Mafia Sustainable Artist fellow and an alumnus of the Yaddo Residency.

Max Duncan is a British filmmaker, journalist and cinematographer. His work has shown on platforms including BBC, Al Jazeera, PBS and the New York Times and been exhibited at galleries including Tate Modern. Now based in Madrid, he previously lived for a decade in China and speaks fluent Mandarin and Spanish. He is an alumnus of Logan and Yaddo fellowships and has received funding from organizations including Pulitzer and Ford Foundation. His half-hour film Down from the Mountains (2018) won a World Press Photo award. Other work has received recognition including Webby and One World Media Awards.

Her recent directing credits include, Undocumented in the Pandemic (2020), Anatomy of Hate (2020), and The End of Oil Explained (2021). Her work has been honored with multiple Edward R. Murrow, Deadline, Overseas Press Club, World Press Photo, Peabody Future of Media, National Press Photographer, and National Magazine awards.

Julian Brave NoiseCat, a member of the Canim Lake Band Tsq’escen and a descendant of the Lil’Wat Nation of Mount Currie, is a writer and filmmaker currently based in the Pacific Northwest. A fellow of the Center for Racial Justice at University of Michigan’s Ford School of Public Policy as well as New America and the Type Media Center, he is currently writing his first book, We Survived the Night. A columnist for Canada’s National Observer, his work has appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The New Yorker and has been recognized with numerous awards.
