Re:Verzió takes off with Cutting Through Rocks

RE:VERZIÓ IS BACK!

If you missed out on the 22nd Verzió International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival in November, now you can catch up on the most important, award-winning films of last year. On the first occasion of the Re:Verzió screening series you can watch the Oscar-nominee film Cutting Through Rocks.

As the first elected councilwoman of her Iranian village, Sara Shahverdi aims to break long-held patriarchal traditions by training teenage girls to ride motorcycles and stopping child marriages. When accusations arise questioning Sara's intentions to empower the girls, her identity is put in turmoil.

Cutting Through Rocks won the Best Human Rights Documentary award at 22nd Verzió Film Festival and is currently in the race for the Academy Award for Best Documentary!

After the screening our invited guests discussed women's rights in Iran. The discussion was moderated by Zeineb Naser Intercultural Mediator, Menedék Hungarian Association for Migrants, participants were Narges Pourasghari Haghi, Student of the Doctoral School of Political Science, Public Policy, and Iinternational Relations at CEU and Sharzad Mohajer (Sherry) an Iranian artist and educator living in Budapest.

OSCAR DAY IN MŰVÉSZ CINEMA

The last screening of the film is on March 15 at 2 p.m. at Művész Cinema, as part of the special program dedicated to the Academy Award Nominees.
