Endangered Communities: LGBTQ

Roundtable
16 November 2020 - 8:00PM to 9:30PM

The support of LGBTQ communities differs from society to society, from negligence to acceptance. But there are no places in Europe similar to Chechnya, which is under Russian rule. Small communities are resisting, and fighting for the rights and lives of the persecuted. How is the European Court of Human Rights trying to help them? How can the local terror be stopped globally? How can someone come out and speak for his or her rights when their life is in danger?

Participants:
Zsolt Szekeres, lawyer, Hungarian Helsinki Committee
Zsófia Szabó, activist, Prizma community
Dr. Lilla Hárdi, psychiatrist, director of Cordelia Foundation
Ernő Simon, press officer, UNHCR Central Europe
Askold Kurov, producer, Welcome to Chechnya

Moderator: Veronika Gaszner, MADOKE board member

The discussion is in Hungarian and English.
