Migration Studies

András Surányi has directed feature films, documentaries, TV films and radio productions. He is a winner of the Pulitzer Prize, and an external member of the European Film Academy. His films participated successfully in several international festivals.

David France is an Academy Award-nominated filmmaker, bestselling author, and award-winning investigative journalist. His directorial debut, How To Survive a Plague, has been hailed as an innovative and influential piece of storytelling. It is regularly screened in university classrooms, and by community groups and AIDS service organizations. The film also garnered Academy Award and Emmy nominations, as well as a Peabody Award. His 2017 film, The Death & Life of Marsha P. Johnson, received rave reviews and won numerous festival prizes.

Ai Weiwei (born in 1957, in Beijing, China) is an internationally renowned artist and political activist. He is appraised for making strong aesthetic statements that resonate with timely phenomena across today’s geopolitical world. From architecture to installations, social media to documentaries, Ai uses a wide range of mediums as expressions of new ways for his audiences to examine society and its values. Ai is the recipient of the 2015 Ambassador of Conscience Award from Amnesty International and the 2012 Václav Havel Prize for Creative Dissent from the Human Rights Foundation. Ai has made numerous documentaries about social and political issues that have won major film festival awards, including Disturbing the Peace (2009), One Recluse (2010), So Sorry (2012), Ordos 100 (2012) and Ai Weiwei’s Appeal ¥15,220.910.50 (2014). In the mid-2010s, Ai turned his attention to the global refugee crisis with several projects, including the 2017 documentary film Human Flow, his first feature-length documentary, which premiered at the 74th Venice Film Festival in competition. He is currently based in Berlin.

Sung-A Yoon francia filmes és művész, aki Dél-Koreában született és Brüsszelben él. A Paris-Cergy nemzeti művészeti főiskolán végzett 2005-ben, majd a brüsszeli INSAS filmes iskolában 2008-ban. 2001 és 2011 között között készített rövidfilmjeit különböző kiállításokon vetítették le, mint az Atelier du Jeu de Paume és a puszani Biennálé. Első rövid játékfilmjét, amelynek címe And I'll Keep in My Heart, beválasztották a Cannes-i Cinéfondation programjába. 2012-ben elindult megkeresni apját, akit gyermekkora óta nem látott, ebből született első egész estés dokumentumfilmje, a Full of Missing Links.

Overseas

Sung-A Yoon is a French cinematographer and artist who was born in South Korea, but is based in Brussels. She graduated from the National Superior School of Fine Arts of Paris-Cergy in 2005, and from the INSAS, a cinema school in Brussels, in 2008. Her short movies, directed between 2001 and 2011, were shown at exhibitions such as the L’Atelier du Jeu de Paume and the Busan’s Biennale. Her first short fiction, And I'll Keep in My Heart, was selected to Cannes - Cinéfondation. In 2012 she began searching for her father who had been absent since her childhood, and ended up with her first documentary feature, Full of Missing Links.
