Wishing on a Star

Peter Kerekes (1973, Slovakia) is a film director, producer and teacher. He directed & produced 107 mothers (2021), Velvet terrorists (2013), Cooking History (2009)
and 66 Seasons (2003). He produced the omnibus documentary Occupation 1968 and co-produced the films Stepne (2023) by Maryna Vroda, Fragile memory (2022) by Ihor Ivanko, Caught in the net (2020) by Vít Klusák and Barbara Chalupová, and The Wind. Documentary thriller (2019) by Michal Bielawski. Peter Kerekes is teaching at Academy of Performing Artrs in Bratislava and at the DocNomads – joint masters in Budapest.

Klára Tasovská a prágai Képzőművészeti Akadémia újmédia szakán és a szintén prágai FAMU dokumentumfilm szakán végezte felsőfokú tanulmányait. Első egész estés dokumentum filmje az Az Erőd (2012) a filmet Lukáš Kokeš-sal közösen rendezte és a Ji.hlava IDFF 2012 fesztiválon a legjobb cseh dokumentumfilmnek járó díjat is megnyerte. A film más európai fesztiválok mellett a CPH:DOX 2012 versenyprogramjában is szerepelt, és jelölték a 2013-as LUX-díjra. Előző, szintén Kokeš-sal készült filmje a Nothing Like Before (2017) az IDFA 2017-es versenyprogramjában indult.

I'm Not Everything I Want to Be

Klára Tasovská graduated from the New Media Department at the Academy of Fine Arts and the Documentary Film Department at FAMU in Prague. Her feature-length debut Fortress, directed together with Lukáš Kokeš, was awarded Best Czech Documentary at Ji.hlava IDFF 2012. It also competed at CPH:DOX 2012 among other European festivals and was nominated for the LUX Prize 2013. Her previous film Nothing Like Before, co-directed by Lukáš Kokeš, premiered at IDFA’s First Appearance Competition 2017.

Ruth Beckermann bécsi születésű rendező, forgatókönyvíró. Those Who Go Those Who Stay című filmje 2014-ben az osztrák Diagonale fesztiválon megnyerte a dokumentumfilmek versenyét. Két évvel később ugyanezen a fesztiválon a The Dreamed Ones című filmjével aratott sikert. A Jó estét, Mr. Waldheim! A 2018-as Berlinalén nyert a dokumentumfilmek között, ebben az évben az osztrákok Oscar-díjra is nevezték az alkotást. A Mutzenbacher 2022-ben az 'Encounters' szekciót nyerte meg a Berlinalén.

Ruth Beckermann is a filmmaker and writer was born in Vienna, Austria. Her film Those Who Go Those Who Stay won Best Documentary at the 2014 Diagonale in Graz. Two years later, The Dreamed Ones won Best Feature Film at the same festival. The Waldheim Waltz received several prizes including the Glashütte Original – Documentary Award at the 2018 Berlinale and was also nominated as Austria’s entry for the Oscars. In 2022, Mutzenbacher screened in the Encounters section of the Berlinale where it won the award for Best Film.

Nikolaus Geyrhalter rendező, producer, író és operatőr, 1972-ben született Bécsben. Statikus kamerával készült, dinamikus megfigyelőfilmjei testközelből foglalkoznak adott témáikkal, legyen az Csernobil területének megfigyelése (Pripyat), a Dakar-rali útvonalának nyomonkövetése (7915 km) vagy a feldolgozott élelmiszerek előállításának feltárása (Our Daily Bread). Nikolaus Geyrhalter Filmproduktion (NGF) néven 22 évesen saját produkciós céget alapított. Abendland (2011) című filmjében az éjszakai munkát vizsgálta Európában, a Homo Sapiens-ben (2016) pedig a városi hanyatlás színtereit szerte a világon. Ez utóbbi alkotását a Berlinale Forumon, a Hongkongi Nemzetközi Filmfesztiválon, a Cinéma du Réel Fesztiválon, az Edinburgh-i Nemzetközi Filmfesztiválon, a Karlovy Vary Nemzetközi Filmfesztiválon és a Viennale-n is levetítették. A berlini Arsenal Cinema 2015-ben retrospektív programot szervezett munkássága köré. A 38. Cinéma du Réel Fesztiválon bemutatták dokumentumfilmjeit. Director, producer, writer and cinematographer, Nikolaus Geyrhalter was born in Vienna, Austria in 1972. Geyrhalter's static-camera, well-paced observational films tackle their subjects head-on, whether it's exploring the terrain in Chernobyl, Ukraine (Pripyat), tracing the route of the Dakar Rally (7915 Km), or investigating the production of processed foods (Our Daily Bread). At the age of 22, Geyrhalter started his own production company, Nikolaus Geyrhalter Filmproduktion (NGF). Geyrhalter examined night labor in Europe with Abendland (2011) and landscapes of urban decay across the world in Homo Sapiens (2016). The latter film played at the Berlinale Forum, the Hong Kong International Film Festival, the Cinéma du Réel Festival, the Edinburgh International Film Festival, Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, and the Viennale. In 2015, Berlin's Arsenal Cinema programmed a retrospective dedicated to his work. The 38th Cinéma du Réel Festival programmed a sidebar on his documentaries. Geyrhalter's films have also screened at the Museum of Modern Art's Doc Fortnight.

A forradalom felfalja gyermekeit!

1982-ben született és Kaiserslauternben nőtt fel. Frankfurt am Mainban színház-, film- és médiatanulmányokat végzett, majd a berlini Ernst Busch Drámai Művészeti Akadémián rendezőnek tanult. Munkáiban leginkább politikai kérdéseket feszeget. 2007 óta dolgozik szabadúszó rendezőként, 2013 óta pedig mélyrehatóan tanulmányozza az Afrikai kontinens politikai berendezkedését. Az európai kontinens és a volt gyarmatok közötti kapcsolatok, a gyarmatosítás hatásai és a gazdasági kiszolgáltatottság a fő témái Congo-Müller, Heart of Darkness, The Mission: Danton’s Death és Coltan Fever filmjeinek. Munkáit több alkalommal (2010, 2016, 2017) Nestroy Színházi díjra terjesztették, amelyet 2017-ben el is nyert a The Mission: Danton’s Death című dokumentumfilmjéért. The Revolution Devours Its Children!

Jan-Christoph Gockel, born in 1982, grew up near Kaiserslautern. He studied theatre, film, and media studies in Frankfurt/Main, and directing at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin. He has worked as a freelance director since 2007. His productions usually focus on political issues. Since 2013, Gockel has been intensely engaged with Africa, and the relationship between Europe and former colonies, the effects of colonialism, and economic dependency have become the themes of Congo-Müller, Heart of Darkness, The Mission: Danton’s Death and Coltan Fever. His works have been nominated for the Nestroy Theatre Award (2010, 2016, 2017), which he won in 2017 for The Mission: Danton’s Death. The Revolution Devours Its Children! is his first feature-length film.
