The screenings of the 19th Verzió Film Festival ended in the cinemas on November 16, but the festival continues online. In Verzió Film Festival's online film library at festival.verzio.org, most of the films are available to rent until November 20

Award-winning films of the 19th Verzió International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival were announced on Saturday at Toldi Cinema. The three juries awarded three main prizes and two special mentions. The prize winners can be watched in Toldi Cinema on November 14, Monday and November 15, Tuesday. 

The festival screenings continue in cinemas until Wednesday. Between November 14-20, most of the films can be viewed online at festival.verzio.org.

The Killing of a Journalist will have two extra screenings: on Sunday at 2 PM in Művész cinema, and on Monday at 6.30 PM in Toldi Cinema. The dcoumentary, directed by Matt Sarnecki, won the Audience Award at the 19th Verzió Film Festival. 

Tickets can be purchased in the cinemas' ticket offices, and online at artmozi.hu.

Change of program on 15 and 16 November! 

We are delighted to announce that, due to overwhelming interest and sold-out screenings, Beauty of the Beast, It Has Passed, and It's Fine and Howling Like We Do will be screened in a larger auditorium on 15 November (Tuesday) and Wednesday 16 November. There will be an extra screening of KIM

The new venues and screening times for the films are listed below. Tickets previously purchased for the Small Hall are still valid for the Big Hall.

The industry programmes of the 19th Verzió will feature nine events over four days, for film professionals, for students and teachers, as well as for those interested in the practical and theoretical aspects of documentary film education and filmmaking.

The experiences of immigrants in Hungary, a priest in dilemma, female body builders, a Jewish community, the renaissance of a Hungarian sheepherding dog, a hair salon in Ózd, and many other interesting topics and sites are explored in the Hungarian films of the 19th Verzió Film Festival. Nóra L. Ritók will open the festival on 8 November, at the Trafó House of Contemporary Arts. The opening film tells the story of two Ukrainian teenagers who escaped from Kharkiv, and now hold drawing classes for Ukrainian refugee children after school.

As an individual, what can you do about climate change, an oppressive regime, or discrimination? What are journalists doing about censorship? What is happening in the rainforests of Brazil? How do people survive wars or blockades day after day? The more than 70 creative documentaries shown at Verzió, most of which will be screened for the first time in Hungary, seek answers to the countless current and burning issues around the globe. The festival will take place 8–20 November, in Budapest and five towns in the countryside, as well as online nationwide.

Verzió will once again celebrate the latest and best documentary films in the cinemas. Between November 8-16 creative documentaries from all over the world will be screened at various locations in Budapest and in other Hungarian towns. November 14 to 20 a selection of the festival program will become available online as well.

The 7th Verzió DocLab is a 4-day intensive editing workshop for directors, writers and editors, organized during the 19th Verzió International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival, in Budapest, 9-12 November 2022. This year’s focus is on story development and editing. With the guidance of international mentors, you will work on your documentary project’s story, and edit a festival trailer or a selected scene to present to an audience of festival programmers, sales agents and producers at the end of the workshop.
