The awards of the 14th Verzió International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival were announced on Sunday night. The Impact Award was given to the film Jackson by the Student Jury, Special Awards went to Mr Gay Syria and The Wait. Urban Cowboys received the Best Student Film Award, while the audience awarded The Trial.

14th Verzio Human Rights Film Festival's Hungarian Panorama consists of 12 films that tell the stories of Kanzoli and the Polgár sisters, emigrants leaving the country or returning home, filmmaker Judit Ember, the yellow-star houses, fighting extreme poverty with fairy tale therapy and music.

Filmmaker Kornél Mundruczó will open Verzio 14. Nowhere to Hide, a film about the life of a nurse in war-torn Iraq, will be the first film shown. This year also marks the first time Trafó will host the opening events.

A Student Jury was invited to Verzio 14 following the tradition of the previous years, to award the best human rights documentary film of the festival. The jury was selected on a competitive basis, answering an open call for jury members.
