Re:Verzió continues: With Hasan in Gaza

The fifth film in the Re:Verzió screening series is a cinematic reflection on memory, loss, and the passage of time in what was once Gaza. A tribute to the people who once lived there and to a landscape that has since been devastated. The film received the Special Mention in the Best International Documentary category at the 22nd Verzió International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival.

Three MiniDV tapes of life in Gaza from 2001 were recently rediscovered. What started as a search for a former prison mate from 1989 led to an unexpected road trip from the north to the south of Gaza with Hasan, a local guide whose fate remains unknown. A cinematic reflection on memory, loss, and the passage of time, capturing a Gaza of the past and lives that may never be found again.

After the screening, Erzsébet N. Rózsa, a Middle East expert and scientific advisor, and Beja Margitházi, assistant professor at the Film Studies Department of Eötvös Loránd University, will take part in a discussion led by Ernő Simon, the Hungarian spokesperson for UNHCR.
