Hungarian Shorts Competition
What does it mean to face something, and when can we say we have truly done so? One may tell their own story without recognizing the forces that shaped it; elsewhere, a new generation uncovers a past silenced for decades. The films in this block expand the scope of facing the past from personal histories to family, community and social structures, showing how these spheres continually overlap. There is no natural order to this process, nor does it necessarily lead to resolution or reconciliation.

The films in the Hungarian Short Film Competition were selected as part of the UniVerzió programme by Kovács Nikolett, Lázár Eszter, and Szalontai Marcell, master’s students at the Department of Film Studies, ELTE Faculty of Humanities, under the supervision of Margitházi Beja.
