In the Russian Far North lies the Sami village of Krasnoschelie. This unique site is the last place of traditional Sami reindeer breeding and the ancestral home of Alexandra Artieva and her family. The village can only be reached by helicopter. Two years ago the kolkhoz, founded in the Soviet times, stopped paying salaries, and even the health care center was closed. There are plans to evacuate the village as the international corporations are keen on exploiting the raw materials of the tundra, endangering the pastures. Alexandra becomes a member of the newly founded Sami parliament to fight for the survival of the village and the traditional lifestyle lived out there.
